ARTIST'S STATEMENT
I paint what most appeals to me - peaceful vistas, ordinary people, and prayerful places. In some of my work I weave symbols of life, faith, and eternity - reflecting my spiritual nature. A native Texan, I have worked in many mediums but I find pastel to be my favorite tool for painting and teaching.
After years of wanting to paint "everything", I am now more often turning to those things that touch me to the core. I find myself awestruck by our everchanging wetlands and landscapes, enchanted and entertained by the diversity of our people, and driven to record and express the strong emotions I feel when visiting historic places of worship. My hope is that when viewing my work others might be challenged, touched, and encouraged to appreciate and protect the good in our beautiful country.
